Antidepreessant medicine Stablon is a selective serotonin reuptake enhancer SSRE. Stablon is used to treat patients suffering from major depression disorder [including that caused from chronic, uncontrolled stress], mood / panic disorder, dysthymia [adjustment disorder], and post-traumatic stress disorder [PTSD]. It helps in alleviating the symptoms of alcohol withdrawal and is also useful for asthmatics. Tianeptine enhances the reuptake of serotonin, but somehow prevents the reuptake of serotonin [believed to control moods, sleep and body temperature] in the brain, maintaining the chemical balance. Tianeptine increases the uptake of the biogenic amine neurotransmitter serotonin without producing adverse reactions that other anti-depressants do.

Stablon Medicine has to be taken orally, usually 3 times a day – Stablon 12.5mg tablet before breakfast, lunch and dinner - but the doctor will decide the dosage, depending upon the patient’s condition and age. A dosage of 37.5mg Tianeptine is considered to be the best for patients. Do not change the dose on your own, or stop taking the medicine without considering to your doctor’s .

Less Stablon serious Side effects commonly experienced by patients on initial usage:- Nausea, Abdominal pain, Constipation, or conversely Diarrhea, Headache, complex, vivid dreams, maybe nightmares, Hives, Itching, Labored breathing, or a Swelling in the face/tongue/throat. Immediately Stop medicine and speak to your psychiatrist /doctor if you have an allergic reaction, or the ordinary symptoms become severe, or if you experience any other unusual symptoms such as:- Loss of appetite, Fatigue, Insomnia, Chest pain, Decreased libido, Anxiety, Labored breathing.

Stablon does not work well with following drugs/substances as stablon is different from other anti-depressants:- Other anti-depressants Salicylic acid [at high plasma concentrations] SSRIs such as Prozac.

Call the emergency room or poison control center 1-800-222-1222, in case of Stablon Overdose.

Though it is non-sedative, you can check with the psychiatrist/doctor whether you should drive or operate machinery while taking Stablon. Avoid alcohol and alcohol containing beverages whilst on a course with this medication.

If you have miss a dose and remember an hour or so later, then take the missed dose, otherwise go on the next dose but never double your dose. Consult your Health care professional/Doctor about your missed dose.

Keep this Stablon medicine at room in cool temperature or at dry place, away from heat and moisture. With the bottle properly crapped out of reach of children and pets. Dispose of any medicine that has passed the expiry date or is no longer required- Check with your pharmacist about the proper disposal.

Inform your psychiatrist/doctor about your medical history, before starting treatment with stablon, all the medicines you are taking including prescription and/or OTC, all the nutritional supplements you are taking including vitamins-minerals-herbal products, and any allergies you have, so that the doctor can decide about the dosage, and advise you on which medicine you should leave out. Normally treatment with Stablon should be stopped at least 24-48 hours prior to a surgery. Women who are pregnant, or planning on pregnancy, or breastfeeding, must consult the psychiatrist / gynaecologist. This medicine is not recommended for children below 15. Do not stop the medicine on your own – if necessary, the doctor will tell you how much dosage has to be reduced. A sudden stop can lead to a risky increase in the blood pressure.
