| Lomotil is a medication used to treat diarrhea. It is a combination of atropine and diphenoxylate. Generic Lomotil works by slowing down the movement of the bowels. |

| Lomotil is to be taken orally, usually 4 times a day or as directed by your doctor. It may be taken on an empty stomach or with food or milk. Do not increase your dose or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor. |

| Intimate your doctor immediately if you notice any side effects or any unusual changes such as stomach / abdominal pain or swelling, severe nausea, vomiting, mood changes e.g., confusion, depression, restlessness, numbness or tingling of arms or legs. |

| Your doctor should be told of any allergies you suffer from or if you are allergic to any component of this medicine. Lomotil should not be used with medications like ambenonium, pramlintide, because very serious interactions may occur. |

| Seek emergency medical attention in case of Lomotil overdose. Signs of overdose include dryness of the skin, nose and mouth flushing, fever, rapid heartbeat, rapid back-and-forth movements of the eyes, pinpoint pupils, difficulty breathing, drowsiness and convulsions. |

| Since caffeine, alcohol, nicotine from cigarettes and street drugs can affect the action of many medications, you should let your prescriber know if you use them. Consult a paediatrician for the use of this Lomotil in children. |

| A double dose of Lomotil should not be taken in case you miss a dose. Instead, you may take the missed dose of Lomotil as soon as you remember. If you are shortly scheduled to take your next dose of Lomotil, then it is advisable to wait for some time and then take the medicine and skip the missed dose. |
